The goal of this tutorial contribution is for it to serve as a practical guide (i) to allow organic chemists to appreciate the value that routine use of resolution enhancement (RE, aka apodization) of their NMR spectral data can provide for their interpretation of 1D spectra and (ii) to guide them in the use of resolution enhancement. We briefly introduce the concept of RE and then describe how trivial it is to apply (in less than one minute) this postacquisition operation to any raw or previously processed NMR data. The remaining portion of the manuscript is devoted to presenting examples that demonstrate the types of scenarios in which the resulting enhanced spectra can be useful.
